The track "Tiefsee" (Deep Sea) takes the listener into the dark and mysterious depths of the oceans. The deepest areas of the terrestrial seas are more unexplored than many a planet in our solar system. Despite the lack of light, they are overflowing with life, and scientists suspect that life on our planet may have originated billions of years ago at the hot vents of the deep sea.
But it's not just Earth's oceans we've been thinking about - an ocean of liquid water has also been discovered beneath the ice crust of Saturn's moon Enceladus. The Cassini space probe delivered fascinating images of water fountains on the icy moon. Saturn's powerful gravitational forces are heating up the moon's interior, so that under the ice there is liquid water at temperatures that make life possible. An alien deep sea!
