about

The song "Fire on the Moon" is based on Norman Mailer's book about the first moon landing of Apollo 11. America was a society in transition at the time. The Vietnam War, the hippie movement, social upheavals due to the black population still not having equal rights - this is the framework in which the Apollo programme took place.
But of course we also want the song to remind us of the enormous tension the whole world felt in July 1969 when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to reach the surface of the moon with their lander Eagle.
"We copy you down, Eagle" Capcom Charlie Duke called out nervously in Houston. The world held its breath until a few seconds later Neil Armstrong confirmed the successful landing of the lunar module.
"Fire on the Moon" reflects the mood of those seconds.
